Combat Tag

Combat Tag is the anti-logout system on Astroworld. The instant you take or deal PvP damage in a Survival world, a 15-second timer starts.

Rules (verified)

  • While tagged you cannot use /spawn, /home, /tpa, /tpaccept, /warp, /hub, /rtp, or /back.
  • While tagged you cannot toggle /pvp off.
  • Logging out while tagged kills your character; your inventory drops at the logout location (unless you have astroworld.combat.bypass).

How to Drop the Tag

Survive 15 seconds without dealing or taking PvP damage. Each successful PvP hit refreshes the timer.

Why It Exists

Combat Tag stops "combat logging" - quitting mid-fight to avoid death. Without it, a losing player could simply disconnect or teleport away the instant a fight turned against them, making PvP pointless. By locking down escapes for 15 seconds after any PvP hit, the system guarantees that a fight you start is a fight you have to finish, win or lose.

Which Commands Are Blocked

Every teleport and exit route is disabled while you are tagged. That covers /spawn, /home, /tpa, /tpaccept, /warp, /hub, /rtp, and /back, plus the /pvp off toggle. The intent is to close every loophole at once - there is no "safe" command that lets you slip out of a contested fight, so your only real options are to win, run on foot, or wait out the timer in a safe spot.

The Refresh Mechanic

The 15-second timer is not a one-time countdown - every PvP hit you deal or take refreshes it back to the full 15 seconds. In a drawn-out fight this means you can stay tagged far longer than 15 seconds total, because the clock keeps resetting with each exchange. To actually drop the tag you need a clean 15-second window with no PvP damage in either direction, which usually means fully disengaging and putting distance between you and your opponent.

Combat Logging Consequences

If you do log out while tagged, the punishment is severe: your character is killed on the spot and your entire inventory drops at the logout location for others to loot (unless you hold the astroworld.combat.bypass permission). This is identical to dying in a fight, so disconnecting saves nothing - it simply hands your gear to whoever was chasing you. See Death Rules for the full breakdown of how those drops work.

Tips

  • Check that your tag has cleared before trying to /home or log off near combat.
  • Use Soulbound-style enchants on key items so a bad fight does not cost you everything.
  • If you want out of a fight, break line of sight and run - movement is never blocked, only teleports.
